For the last two weeks we have been learning about assembly lines and how they help the factory work faster. Last week each person in class made a bus - assembling each piece individually. We worked in two different groups of eight students. The first group made their buses in 44:28 (44 minutes and 28 seconds.) The second group made their buses in 53:10. This was an average time of about 6 minutes a bus.
This week we did the project again – but in stations as in an assembly line. Each person was only responsible for one part of the assembly. There were 8 stations, one student at each station. This time when we worked on our buses, it took the first group 7:06 to make 8 buses and it took the second group 8:07 to make 8 buses. This average time worked out to be about a minute a bus. Here are some pictures of the kids doing the bus building.
